CYPHOSIS

Kyphosis is a deviation of the spine in the sagittal plane.

Patients appear to have an arched back.

As with scoliosis, kyphosis may be true or attitudinal, and is referred to as flexible or reducible.

Attitude kyphosis occurs when no radiological signs are detected.

In this case, the kyphosis is reducible simply by positioning the patient correctly.

Kyphosis can vary in severity, with the most severe forms sometimes requiring correction by corsets and/or orthopedic surgery.

In the simplest (and most frequent) cases, effective postural re-education can achieve excellent results.

Self-enlargement, relaxation and work to reduce any gibbosity are all considered.
Massages also work well on muscles that are generally stiff and painful.
Learning the corrected position is also important (mirror).

In the case of children and adolescents, those around them play an important role in learning the corrected position.
For school-age children, the weight and shape of the schoolbag are also important.
